Picasso’s Gourmet Deli and Art was opened on November of 2000 in Downtown Modesto. Its original idea of combining local art and great food has attracted many to our restaurant. “You can come in here, eat a sandwich, admire the art, and leave with a table.” Jordi Camps says.
Picasso’s is not a only a restaurant, it is an art gallery. As an art gallery, we present artwork of different local artists as well as sell their work. Anyone that comes in can acquire any of the paintings on the wall, tables, or order a painting to be done with a specific theme done to their preferences.
In November, 2007 we will have reached seven years of serving our clients with the highest quality product we can offer. Since our start, in November of 2000, we have maintained the quality of our products by only using the finest ingredients possible. To help us create our original and very unique sandwiches, one of the keys is our food providers like Word of Mouth Baking Company, who delivers freshly baked bread to us every morning . Every one of our sandwiches is made the moment our clients order, following their specification and preferences. Our philosophy since the beginning, has been to make and prepare our product the way we would like it for ourselves, that way, we can be sure that we are giving the highest quality service and product to our costumers.  We offer three types or classifications of sandwiches: Gourmet Sandwiches which have the name of different painters and are our signature sandwiches. For these sandwiches we use artisan bread baked every morning. Panini Sandwiches which were created on 2007 and have the name of Beatles’ songs. These sandwiched are grilled in our panini and come on sourdough or squaw bread. Deli Sandwiches come on white, wheat, or sourdough bread, with the client’s choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, and mustard.
Our walls, tables, and stairs are covered with the art work of Jordi Camps, the owner of Picasso’s Gourmet Deli, as well as other local artists every month. Every third Thursday of the month we open from six to nine in the evening for the Art Walk. We feature different artists and offer free food and entertainment.
